Did you work with AEC Mold Chillers, Mold Temperature Controllers, Refrigeration Units for Plastics Injection Molding? According to publicly filed asbestos litigation records, it allegedly contained asbestos. Here is what it was, who was exposed, and who is responsible. AEC Mold Chillers, Mold Temperature Controllers, Refrigeration Units for Plastics Injection Molding, made by Application Engineering Aec, sold from around the 1950s until the 1980s. Application Engineering Corporation (AEC) manufactured the 40-105-ton mold chillers documented by DuBois that 'maintain low-mold temperatures for thermoplastic molding.' Plaintiffs allege AEC mold chillers and refrigeration units were specified with asbestos refrigeration-line insulation, gaskets, and electrical wire insulation. According to publicly filed asbestos litigation records, this product allegedly contained the following: asbestos refrigeration-line insulation, asbestos gaskets, asbestos electrical wire insulation. Workers allegedly exposed around this product included Plastics-machinery operators, Refrigeration mechanics, and Plant maintenance workers. Asbestos claims are brought against the companies that made the products. If you worked with or around AEC Mold Chillers, Mold Temperature Controllers, Refrigeration Units for Plastics Injection Molding and were later diagnosed with mesothelioma, asbestosis, or another asbestos-related disease, you may have a legal claim against the manufacturer. Product Description
Application Engineering Corporation (AEC) manufactured through the mid-to-late asbestos era mold chillers, mold temperature controllers, and refrigeration units used by U.S. plastics injection molding shops to maintain controlled low-mold temperatures during thermoplastic molding cycles. The DuBois “Plastics History U.S.A.” (1972) volume specifically documents AEC’s 40-to-105-ton mold chillers (figure 6-28) as the standard equipment used to “maintain low-mold temperatures for thermoplastic molding” through the late asbestos era.
Plaintiffs alleged in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation that AEC mold chillers and refrigeration units were specified through the asbestos era with asbestos refrigeration-line insulation, asbestos gasket material at compressor and heat-exchanger connections, asbestos electrical wire insulation on compressor and control wiring, and asbestos heat-shield material in chiller cabinet construction.
Application Engineering Corporation has been named as a Manufacturer Defendant in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation.
